      We are now settled in our new location, second level, The Myer Centre in Rundle Mall. It has been wonderful seeing everyone follow us and meeting new people. If you haven't been up already then head in and check out our new shop. At Toucan Pet Centre we support a local cat rescue and hold adoption days, as well as looking after a couple in shop. We do not sell puppies, however we still have a large range of products available to help set you up and keep you going throughout your puppy's life.

      A trip down memory lane

      Back in 1974, Kevin Verran decided to leave his stable job of 20 years and follow his dream. As an avid bird lover and breeder, Kevin’s interest led him to open a pet shop in Gillies Plains on Main North East Road. Eventually, Kevin found himself trading at West Lakes Shopping Centre, Harris Scarfe, Unley Shopping Centre, Colonnade's Shopping Centre, North Park Shopping Centre, and Harrys Home and Garden, now known as the Bunning Centre, at Mile End. 

      In 1986, Julia became an employee and loved the industry so much that she married into it, and still works and Toucan Pet Centre Pty Ltd today.

      Over the years, the face of retail has changed, which has led us to slowly disappear from the suburbs. Our pet shop in Harris Scarfe, in Rundle Mall never let us down, however. It became our flagship store after trading for over 30 years, until 2009 when we finally had to say goodbye. In 2017 we said goodbye to the basement of Bank SA and moved up to the second level in the Myer Centre, Rundle Mall. We have been enjoying our new shop since 1st May 2017
